Heritage High School Bands - Lynchburg Virginia

The Heritage High School Marching, Symphonic, Concert and Jazz Bands rank with the finest bands in Virginia. The Heritage High School “Big Orange Marching Machine” has won many Grand Championships in local, regional and national band competitions during the past years. For example, in 1995 the BOMM (which is the nickname for the band) became one of only two Virginia bands to become a finalist in BANDS OF AMERICA National Competition!

Twice Heritage has represented Virginia (1993, 1995) at the FESTIVAL OF STATES national band competition in St. Petersburg, Florida where the BOMM won the Bronze (1993) and Silver Medal (1995) and the Symphonic Band won the Gold Medal (1993 & 1995), in competition with bands from all over the United States. Three notable non-competitive performances in recent years have been performing for the NFL Atlanta Falcons in Atlanta and twice for the NFL Washington Redskins in Washington D.C. Additionally, the Jazz Band performed at an Indiana Pacers basketball game in the Spring of 2005. You may be interested to know that the Heritage High School Bands have won nearly 200 First Place and Grand Championship Awards in all captions. Heritage was named as a Virginia Honor Band in 2004 and 2005.

These successes are the result of the dedication of the band members and their parents. It’s great fun to be a member, and it takes self-discipline and time for rehearsal, too. A lot of responsibility goes into being a member. But, if you love music, like working with your friends, and would like to become a member of one of the best (certainly the largest) organizations at Heritage High School then JOIN THE BAND!
