BAND BOOSTERS
The Band Boosters of Heritage High School,
Inc. is a non-profit corporation comprised of parents, students and other
volunteers who support the band program at HHS, including Marching Band,
Concert band, Symphonic Band and Jazz Band. This is an all volunteer group.
None of the officers or members are paid for the nearly 12,000 hours of
volunteer time that is required to support the band program in the upcoming
school year.
The Boosters raise funds; chaperone games and
events; prepare the uniforms; provide refreshments; provide travel
arrangements; provide communications, including the monthly newsletter and
radios for games and competitions; staff the concession stands at City
Stadium during the football games (as part of our participation in City
Boosters); assist band students at games and competitions; build props;
provide truck and pit crews to transport instruments, props and equipment to
games and events; provide first aid for games and performances; and pay the
salaries of clinicians that assist with percussion, marching and colorguard.
Many exciting things have happened in the past years and we look forward to
many more exciting things in the years to come. The Band Boosters meet the
second Tuesday of each month, usually in the Band Room. This meeting is held
to discuss planning of upcoming events and long range goals. All students
and parents of the band program are invited to attend and get involved. You
can influence the decisions that impact all aspects of the Booster
organization, including costs.
The Band Boosters have an annual budget of about $120,000 that we raise in
various ways. During this season, we have limited our fundraising to 4 major
activities (Monday Night Bingo, City Stadium concessions, fruit sales and
Red Apple Thrift Store) and others as chosen by the Band Boosters. EVERYONE
is expected to do his or her part to participate in the Band Boosters
organization by participating in fundraising activities, band program
activities, or both. Our band is trying to avoid the large amounts of money
that so many bands are now charging. Without your participation in the Band
Booster activities, the band charge would be over $850 per student annually.
This would prevent many promising music students from joining the band
simply because they could not afford the large costs. As inconvenient as it
is, everyone can find a way to serve the Band Boosters.
